Happy New Year!

I wanted to start 2025 by sharing a thought that might seem a bit counterintuitive. While you may be bombarded with advice to create to-do lists and define ambitious goals, I firmly believe the most important starting point is acknowledging your past achievements.

Instead of kicking off the New Year with a focus on all the things you haven’t yet accomplished, I suggest you take some quiet time to reflect. Write down a list of everything you’re proud of from the past year. These can be big or small, personal or professional – anything that brings you a sense of accomplishment.

Perhaps you exercised regularly, learned a new skill, or achieved a financial goal. Whatever it is, acknowledging these successes is crucial. In my experience with transformational coaching, this act of self-acknowledgment is the foundation for true growth and lasting change.

It’s important to note that despite their accomplishments, even the most successful individuals can experience feelings of self-doubt and a yearning for deeper meaning at this time of year. By acknowledging your past achievements, you cultivate a growth mindset, reinforcing your belief in your own abilities and building the confidence to tackle new challenges. This act of self-reflection can be a powerful tool for high-achievers seeking to push beyond their current boundaries and unlock their true potential.

I know that many of you can find this idea difficult to put into practice and over the years I’ve been asked for specific methodologies or templates to guide this process. Put simply, I believe the beauty of this exercise lies in its simplicity. The key is to create a dedicated space for reflection. Find a quiet moment, free from distractions, and allow yourself to truly slow down. Avoid rushing through the process. Instead, take the time to savour each accomplishment, however small. You might be surprised by the insights that emerge.

Start your year by acknowledging your past successes. You deserve it.

Wishing you a happy and fulfilling 2025.
