About Me

'The greatest good you can do for another is not just share your riches, but to reveal to him his own'
Benjamin Disraeli

Central to everything I do is my relationship with you. That bond – that trust – allows both parties to talk freely and to unblock barriers that may be holding you back. To that end, I am extremely selective about who I work with, just as I expect my clients to carefully consider who they turn to.

My Approach

I don’t believe there is a standard approach to a coaching assignment as I don’t have ‘standard’ clients. Each and every assignment is different as each and everyone of my clients is different.

My approach therefore is to get to know the prospective client and to be crystal clear about what it is they are trying to achieve.
If and only if I am clear that I understand your ‘mission’ and am confident I can support you to achieve or surpass it will I agree to coach you.

This approach is so important to me that I turn away more clients than I take on.

I am however, always happy to have an initial conversation with anyone who is
interested to find out more about coaching with me.

Kit James

I am an internationally experienced coach who spent 30 years in the property industry-leading sales and customer teams. This included long stints in both the Middle and Far East. I am highly experienced in the workings of business and the day to day pressures of working in a target orientated environment. I have worked in large multi-national corporates, medium-sized businesses and set up and run my own successful business.
I am a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation.

That’s the formal bit out of the way…

Here’s the bit you might find more interesting…

My top priority has always been and will always be my family.

I found the politics of business a strain.

I have only 1 kidney which, according to my surgeon, was due to work stress…

I am a big advocate of creating a sensible work-life balance, (yes, it really is possible.)

I have perfectionist tendencies and am still working on that.

I am living proof that you are never too old to change careers.

I have walked the talk by creating my dream business.

I owe a great debt to my own coach.

I took the leap …will you?

Confidentiality

Whilst I am a great believer that coaching is going mainstream and has the ability to have a major positive impact on society as a whole, I do also respect that for personal reasons some clients would rather not publicise the fact that they are in coaching.I therefore will never disclose any client information without your express permission.

Structure

Once I have agreed to work with a client I will then sit down with you and work out a bespoke programme specifically to meet your individual needs. This will vary depending on the individual /business and the amount of time you have to commit to coaching.

I work with busy people almost all of whom are time poor, so understand the importance of creating a programme that gives you the best possible chance to achieve your coaching objectives whilst respecting the other pressures on your time.

STEP 1.We need to talk

It all starts with a conversation. Nothing to be scared of… just a chance for us to get to know one another. For you to ask any questions and for me to understand your ‘mission.’ Don’t worry if you are not crystal clear about what you want – part of my job is to help you clarify the coaching assignment.

STEP 2.Crossing Ts & dotting Is

Once we have agreed on the coaching ‘mission’ I will then discuss the coaching contract with you and clarify how much time you have to give to coaching. Once agreed we will create your bespoke programme and then send you a contract.

STEP 3.We coach

It really is as simple as that…

Frequently Asked Questions

1.What is coaching?

Coaching is a collaborative process that enables the coachee to obtain clarity, take action and reach new heights.

2How do I get the best out of coaching?

By being open to a new way of thinking, being present and turning your phone off!

3Is coaching the same as therapy?

No, as a general rule therapy looks backwards whilst coaching looks forward and is all about results.

4How long does coaching go on for?

This depends, as at KJC every contract is bespoke but as a guide the minimum time is 6 months the maximum is usually a year, but many clients renew their contracts.

5Is coaching confidential?

Absolutely. I will never divulge anything discussed in coaching except under previously clarified exceptions or with your express permission.

6Can you guarantee coaching will work?

The short answer is no. The work sits with the coachee and responsibility can’t be transferred to the coach. In general terms the more a coachee engages in the process the better the results. Having said that I will only take on clients who I am confident will succeed in their mission!
